Week 16

Day 105 – Sunday 13th April

Weight = 107.5 kgs

Steps = 9315

Sunday I had a busy day but it started late as I was going to Burnham in the afternoon to drop off a bike that I sold and also some forks. We then drove back to bath and then walked into town to go for a Chinese to celebrate my son passing his driving test 🙂 We then walked home and chilled until 8pm when I drove him home as we can’t afford to insure him mow he has passed 🙁

By the end of the day I got to 9315 Steps.

Day 106 – Monday 14th April

Weight = 107.7 kgs

Steps = 4930 Steps

This morning I got up at 5 am with my alarm, got up and did my weigh-in and then got showered and changed and loaded the DJ into the car and headed to Patchway to enjoy the dry weather while it lasts 🙂

I did about an hour at Patchway before my legs gave up and I concentrated on mostly first straights working on manualling the big jump and the triple. I got the big jump manual-ed clean about 10 times in a row so I think that I have that sorted now and got the triple sorted with the pump manual as well. The Black Market manuals really well as it has a really short end which is nice 🙂

My wrist held up really well so I am thinking that I can try the StayStrong Cruiser with the 2.1″ tyres soon hopefully.

I then headed to Stockwood pump track for about 30 minutes as it was in the way home so it was rude not too! I didn’t get much done though as my legs were cooked from Patchway but I had fun and did a bunch of laps with clean manuals on the first and second straights so not bad.

After driving home I spent the rest of the day in bed with my legs elevated all day to get rid of the soreness.

I did remember to take my creatine with my breakfast when I got home so hopefully that will start to work sooner rather than later! I decided that I would not do the loading phase as I didn’t need the digestive issues that people were getting and I can wait for the 3 weeks it usually takes to be fully loaded just taking 5g per day anyway as I am not competing at the moment anyway.

By the end of the day I had done only 4930 steps but I had worked out a lot.

Day 107 – Tuesday 15th April 2025

Weight = Scales out of batteries 🙁

Steps = 1484

As I was so tired from riding yesterday I slept in until about 7:30 so I guess that I was tired and needed the rest 🙂 I then got up and did my weigh-in but the scales batteries suddenly died and I didn’t have any new ones so I didn’t bother to do anything about it!

I also messaged my friend and said that I would swap the Dialled Pro XL 20″ for my old Chase OS20 as I want the frame to go on the wall as its really pretty and I want the wheels to go on my S&M .38 Special to see if I can make it into an OS20 to leave in the container to play on when I feel like it 🙂

I then went back to bed with my legs elevated for the rest of the day as I was hurting still from the riding yesterday! I decided to take today as a rest day as I am going to Andover to do gates tomorrow night so I want to be fresh for that!

While in bed I did my weekly shopping and also re-joined the gym which I will start on Thursday morning first thing to get the timings of working out! I was planning to just work out Tuesdays and Fridays as my plan suggested but I think I will do upper-body weights on Wednesday and Friday Morning’s first thing too so that I can rehab my wrist and shoulder more as my training plan was made for when i was healthy so I may as well get into the habit of getting up and Rucking to the gym in the mornings. My training for the rest of the month and Probably next month too will be:

DAYAMLunchPM
MondayRuck to Office + BackRESTREST
TuesdayRuck + Gym Legs + Ruck HomeRESTREST
WednesdayRuck + Gym Arms + BackRESTGates Andover
ThursdayRuck + Gym Legs + Ruck HomeRESTGates Bath
FridayRuck + Gym + Ruck HomeFriday lunch ClubREST
SaturdayRoad RideRESTWalk
SundayTrackRESTWalk

I want to work on being consistent at the gym and also making gates at Andover and Bath every week. At the moment Bath Gates are a bit of a struggle as I am still tired from Andover but I am hoping that soon the creatine will help me recover enough to be able to do a proper session at Bath to. Its not ideal that the gates sessions are on consecutive days but what can you do!

I have also decided that I will go back to walking 10000 steps a day with Mon-Friday being a Ruck with my new 9 kg rucksack weight always being in the rucksack 🙂 I will see how I feel on Mondays as I may change that to be a walk and take the weight out of the rucksack to work to the office on a Monday! With my water bottle in the bag the rucksack will be the dame weight as my 10 kg weight vest anyway 🙂

I am planning to go to the gym and then head home, shower and ride the e-bike into the office to start work at 7:30 in the morning as I am not taking my 2 hour lunch breaks anyway so I may as well start an hour later and take an hour for lunch instead!

I also tested out my new griddle pan and it was really good although I could only fit 6 rashers of bacon on it so I may get a bigger one later on so I can do a whole packet of bacon to have spare for later in the day to snack on! I also bought a new ceramic frying pan that is the same as the griddle pan as it was so easy to clean it makes sense and I will throw away my old non-stick pans as they are pretty toxic and are all scratched up and not really non-stick any more!

By the end of the day I was only on 1484 steps 🙁

Day 108 – Wednesday 16th April 2025

Weight = Scales out of batteries 🙁

Steps = 9866

So this morning I woke up early and started to organise the flat as I had shopping arriving between 9:30 and 10:30 am so I wanted to make sure that the flat looked less like a hoarder’s house for once!

I also stripped the bedding off of my bed and washed it and also cleaned the bathroom as that was a state too!

I also bot my shares money into my account this morning so I decided to buy another set of Avian 172.5″ cranks as they have stopped my knee pain pretty much all together so I will stick them on the StayStong with the 2.10″ tyres so that when I start riding it again I have no knee issues!

I have decided that I am going to sell the Standard Cruiser and OS20 Frames and I will get Gary to make me an OS20 frame as well as the second Cruiser frame that he is making me.

I am currently getting my bedding dry and then I will load the car up and head to my parents as I have hoovering and mopping to do at their house before I go to Andover this evening.

The batteries arrived with my shopping so I have put them in the scales and also in my body fat measurement thingy and I am apparently 23.5 % body fat which is a lot better than I was expecting 🙂 I was expecting around 30% to be honest!

That means I only need to lose 12.5% body fat to get to 10% body fat 🙂 From this I can calculate that my lean mass is around 82.62 kgs so 10% on top of that would be 90.88 kgs which seems to be a bit high to be honest!

I will take the readings from this device with a pinch of salt but its as good guestimate!

So I have just got home from Andover and I was able to ride the StayStrong with no issues with the wrist at all 🙂 Gates feel so much better on the Cruiser compared to the Jump bike too. I am going to try putting the front wheel from the StayStrong onto the Curtis tomorrow to see how my wrist feels at gates tomorrow night!

Hopefully the fat tyre will resolve my wrist issues enough to allow me to ride the BMX again!

I also got my fastest gate time at Andover tonight at 2.543 seconds compared to my time of 2.557 seconds on the Supercross back in February so I am definitely getting faster 🙂 I also didn’t get tired at all this evening so that is either down to the NMN or the Creatine or the total rest day I had yesterday 🙂 Either way it is working 🙂

Day 109 – Thursday 17th April 2025

Weight = 108.9 kgs

Steps = 7172

This morning I woke up at 6 am with my alarm, got up did my weigh-in and I was up to 108.9 kgs which is disappointing! I was really hurting from last night’s gates so I decided to rest as I have gates again tonight!

As the last time that I had eaten yesterday was about 3 pm I decided that I may as well try and get a 3 day fast in before my holiday ends so that is what I am doing now!

I then went back to sleep until just before 11 am so I guess that I was tired!

Today I am building up my Standard 125R 24″ that I got back from my friend (waiting on a bottom bracket to arrive that I just ordered) and taking my friends parts off of the Chase ready to put them on the Dialled that I swapped with him when I grab it tonight at gates.

In the afternoon I broke down the Chase and washed and dried all of my parts and hung the frame on the wall as I am not going to use it for now. I then took the front wheel off of the StayStrong with the 2.10 Powerblock on it and put it on the Curtis to see how it rides at gates tonight. I also oiled the chain and checked it over then pumped up the tires. I am not sure how much riding I will be able to do as I’m am feeling the effects of not eating a bit at the moment! As I was sorting out the Curtis the new Avian 172.5 mm cranks got delivered from Crucial even though I only bought them yesterday so Crucial came through again 🙂

By 17:00 I did a bit of a weigh-in and I am down to 107.5 kgs so in about 12 hours I have lost an amazing 1.4 kgs 🙂

Tonight after gates I am going to swap the parts from the StayStong onto my Dialled MX 24 frame as my friend from Andover rides a Dialled and he says they are amazing with the big tyres on as they have a really low bb height so feel really planted at speed and jump really well so I will try it out.

If the Curtis feels good then I will most likely keep the Dialled as my pump track bike and sell the StayStrong frame as I don’t need both. I am also likely to sell the Standard 125R Cruiser frame and forks as I need to get the Supercross frame up for sale as well. I think that I will keep the rear wheel as I can convert it to a 20 mm axle then when I get my other Curtis back I can use it on that.

Gates went really well and I felt way better than I had expected to as I was feeling a bit tired before I left for gates. I even got a pb of 2.332 seconds which is significantly better than my old pb of 2.382 seconds so I’m pretty happy about that and also how the Curtis rode as well!

After gates I couldn’t really sleep until almost midnight so I decided to turn off my alarm and sleep until I woke up naturally.

By the end of the day I got to 7172 steps.

Day 110 – 17th April 2025

Weight = 106.9 kgs

Steps = 2615 Steps

I woke up about 6:30 and went to the bathroom and did my weigh-in and I was amazed to see that I had lost exactly 2 kgs from yesterday which is amazing. By 7 am I was 40 hours into the fast so in 40 hours I had lost 2 kgs which is way more than I thought that I would have lost by now. I have also noticed that my asthma is getting much better and I didn’t even get my inhaler out of my bag last night and didn’t need it over night at all which is the first time that I can remember in the last 30 years or so that I haven’t needed the inhaler at night!

This morning I have been thinking about my training and I have decided that from next week I will walk in the morning + 1 form of training exercise too per day so that I am not doing too much each day except for Sunday when I will go for a road ride and do a pump track or track session as well. So my training week will look something like this:

This will work out well as I start a bit later on Monday and Fridays so I will have time to get a good gym session in before starting work. During the week I will Ruck to the office with the 9 kg weight in the rucksack to make the walk a bit harder and I will aim to walk at least 10000 steps a day to keep the benefits of the walking first thing. I do half days on Tuesdays as I am on call Monday nights so doing a sprints/ track session then means that I have enough time to get a decent session done. I am doing prints on Saturday morning for the same reason! I am planning to do 10-15 minutes of car park skills before sprints sessions and track/ gates sessions as well to try and improve my manualing skills as well over time.

Having only one exercise session a day means that it should be easy to be consistent over time which I think is the most important thing over time.

Along with this training I will also do 10 minutes of walking backwards and the wrist roller until failure every day Monday to Friday to keep rehabing my knee and wrist injuries.

I spent all afternoon evening watching films and then about 8 pm I was thinking about food so much from all the food in films that I started researching Carnivore recipts for when I can eat. I did this until my son arrived at about 22:30 then we chatted for a bit and then I went down a rabbit hole looking for a waterproof screen to use for the timing system at the track until I went to sleep after 1 am.

Today was most definately the hardsest day so far as everything I watched on TV has so much food in it I started to hyperfixate on the food until I started researching the carnivore diet and get receips then weirdly I was fine.

Saturday 19th April 2025

Weight = 105.5 kgs

Steps = 2736 Steps

So even though it was gone 1 am when I went to sleep last night I woke up without an alarm at 7 am and got up and did my weigh-in and I am down to 105.5 kgs this morning so 3.4 kgs lost in 64 hours of not eating

I am feeling really good and still not having asthma or waking up during the night so I am sleeping much better especially as I am now able to breath through my nose now which is amazing.

With 8 hours to go I must say that this fast has been way easier than I thought that it would be to be honest which I guess is down to the fact that I have a lot of fat reserves to keep me fed unlike most of the people on youtube that do the fasts. For me the best part of the fast is the fact that I am feeling much better than I was before the fast. Other than the lack of Asthma and being able to breath I now have no leg pain which was pretty constant before the fast.

Granted I didn’t get out of bed yesterday other than to get water and work on a couple of bikes and tidy the lounge in the afternoon and walk to the garage to put some bikes away so I was pretty much sedentary which will have helped a lot with the leg pain.

The most amazing thing is that my sugar cravings have totally gone where as when I was intermittent fasting by about 4 pm every day I had major sugar cravings literally EVERY day which I usually ended up giving into. For the past 3 days I haven’t even thought about eating sweets and chocolate even though I have popcorn and penguin biscuits in the house and I have picked them up and put them in the cupboard yesterday when I was tidying up and didn’t even want to eat them!

I don’t expect the last 8 hours of the fast to be any different than the past 64 hours really so I am going to chill in the house and just get through it.

I have decided to fast an extra hour until 4 pm as I started my fast between 3 and 4 pm on Wednesday and I didn’t take an exact time as I wasn’t planning to fast when I finished eating so if I go to 4 pm I can safely say that I have completed a 3 day fast as I had definitely finished eating by 4 pm as I was getting in the car to go to my friend’s house at 4 pm!

I am hoping that now my sugar cravings seem to have gone, sticking to the carnivore diet and intermittent fasting will be way easier over the next few months as I see if the effects of the fast remain when I start eating again! It will be interesting to see if the reduced Asthma (or total lack of it so far) and ability to breath through my nose even when led down remain when I start eating or if they come back. Once I start slowly re-adding foods I can see what exactly triggers the Asthma if anything does as I plan to try and cut out the processed foods that I have been constantly eating since before covid which have been totally messing my health up and caused me to get really fat and unfit!

So I broke the fast a little early in the end as my mum was making bacon and eggs when we got to my parents house so I actually did a 71.5 hour fast but close enough 🙂

We then went to my brother’s house for 4 pm and I ate a few non-carnivore things but I was pretty good. I didn’t eat any crisps or nuts but did have a beer and a few potatoes, a couple of roast potatoes, some home made bread and a bit of a shortbread pudding that my niece had made so not the ideal way to break a fast but it could have been a lot worse! We headed home about 8 pm and I had a banana to finish the day off.

All in all the fast was a great idea as I have lost a bit of weight, I feel a lot better and my asthma has been non-existent for the past 3 days too 🙂
